Teacher Watchers

Teacher Watchers is a website dedicated to Enhancing the learning experience for students, by holding our teachers to Professional Behavior and Conduct, and by bringing to light any Unprofessional Conduct of our Teachers.

Please feel free to email me with complaints at teacherwatchers@yahoo.com

Unprofessional Conduct can be described as, but not limited to the following.
A teacher making sarcastic remarks directed to or about a student.
Regardless of circumstance, a teacher must keep control of themselves.

Teachers must treat all students with respect. The only way to solve the disrespect issues directed from Students to Teachers and Staff is for Teachers to show respect to Students. In order to gain respect you must first show respect! This is true for Teachers and Students.

Schools not only must have rules against harassment on paper; they also must be committed to enforcing their rules in practice. Even the best-written anti-harassment rules will not help a school unless the educational staff clearly understands them and is committed to enforcing them in a way that protects students from harassment. Teachers must never be indifferent to harassment!

Teachers and Staff have a responsibility to provide a safe environment for the students that is conducive to learning. They also have a responsibility to respect each student's individual rights. These two missions are not incompatible. Young people have rights too!

Teachers and staff must be held responsible for their actions. Unprofessional Conduct must not be tolerated! What message do teachers and staff send when they are allowed to misbehave toward students. In order to effectively enforce rules of conduct, all people must be held responsible, Teachers, Staff and Students.

"In our system, state-operated schools may not be enclaves of totalitarianism. School officials do not possess absolute authority over their students. Students in school as well as out of school are 'persons' under our Constitution." Justice Abe Fortas, Tinker v. DesMoines, (1969)

Because of the concerns expressed to me about possible repercussions at school toward their children, all emails will be strictly confidential until such time as you decide otherwise. These concerns are a grave indication of the seriousness of the current conditions of our schools.
