Randle

Nestled among the foothills of the Cascade Mountains along the banks of the Cowlitz River, Randle offers a host of outdoor adventure, ranging from a quiet afternoon of berry picking to the challenge of an active volcano.

Randle lies at the western edge of the Big Bottom Valley, so named by settlers for its rich, fertile soil, and can boast a 100- year history celebrated in 1983. Marks of history can be seen in area homesteads, aging orchards and historic sites as "Kitchen Rock", a natural shelter used by pioneers and Indians.

Mary Kiona Park, named in honor of the matriarch of the Kiona Indian family, is a community park on Forest Service land with day use facilities for picnicking on sparkling Silver Creek among tall Firs.

Mt. Rainier National Park is famous for its 14,410 foot high summit that challenges the heartiest climbers. Mt. Rainier National Park welcomes you to the mountain wonderland on the flanks of the once-active volcano. Established in 1899, the park is an easy drive from Randle west and north via SR 7 and Ashford, or east on US Hwy. 12 to SR 123 via Ohanapecosh.

Randle can boast the closest view and dramatic drive to experience Mt. St. Helen's - just turn south from downtown Randle onto the 25 Road. Enjoy driving through the lush green forest, only to be startled by the contrast of the devastation area. Stop to see Ryan lake, and Miner's Car at the junction of the 26/99 Roads.
